During 2014 UWCB gym helped to raise over £20,000 for charities such as Cancer Research UK, Ashgate Hospice and the National Hereditary Breast Cancer Helpline by providing training for participants taking part in Ultra White Collar Events and assisting in administration for the main event.
In addition, we also took part in Michelle & Leah’s Last Wish helping to raise money to grant a daughter’s wish list for herself and her terminally ill mother to do together in the time.
We are already in training for our second Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) show and have already helped participants raise over £7,000 so far in 2015 for Cancer Research UK. As a whole UWCB has already raised almost 1.5 million for Cancer Research UK and earlier this year received the pioneer of the year award at Cancer Research Flame of Hope Awards 2015.
UWCB gives people who have never boxed before the opportunity of eight weeks free training before stepping into the ring and boxing at a glamorous black tie event against a suitably matched opponent, whilst raising money in sponsorship for CRUK. This year we have also helped raise money for a specialist vest to improve the quality of life for a young mum with cystic fibrosis.
In order to assist with the fundraising and train participants for charity events, we do need a gym with suitable equipment for training.
Unfortunately, with over 300 UWCB participants alone passing through our gym each year, with regular training for the 4 events a year in addition to our regular customers, our small boxing ring is not suitable to give everyone the training resources which they require to train effectively.
It is small, old and worn having had several repairs. One small ring is just not enough and the wear is taking its toll. Due to the size of our gym we just do not have the resources to fund a new ring and we desperately need one in order to train participants raising money for charity and provide them with the training they need and deserve. Hopefully, with your assistance we can raise the money to provide our fundraisers with a new ring in our gym.
