Signing No 3 of the Day Completes the Steelers Defence.
Steelers D Core Complete as Guimond heads to Sheffield.
Aaron Fox has completed the Sheffield Steelers defensive core with the addition of 33 year old blue liner Sacha Guimond.
Guimond is arriving in Sheffield on the back of consecutive championships in the French league with Rouen. Prior to that, Sacha had spells in Bratislava (ICEHL), Innsbruck (EBEL) Olimpija Ljubljana (EBEL) and Banska Bystrica (Slovakia)
“Winning back to back championships gives you a great feeling, and once you win you want to continue winning” he said, speaking from his home in Quebec “I guess that is a huge reason for wanting to come to Sheffield.
“I had the chance to move to a few teams in the league but I didn’t really know a lot about the Elite league. I did though know about Sheffield Steelers, that they always have a good team and a chance to win.
“I’ve been in Europe for 7 or 8 years now, this will be a new experience and a new challenge, we all need those in life, and I am excited to come over to England and get started. The league is getting better every year and when I look at the standard of players in the league and especially our team you just want to put the skates on and start”.
Fox has recruited six import defensemen for this years Steelers side, the first time he has done that since he joined the club in 2019.
“Sacha is an experienced D that can play a 2 way game for us.
“He skates well, especially for his size and has a very good Shot. Sacha put up close to a point per game pace while in France on an outstanding team in Rouen the last 3 years.
“I think he gives us another PP option as well and it gives us an opportunity to use 6 high end D that should give us a real advantage night in and night out”.
