Boys head off on Wednesday for two road games in Switzerland and Sweden.
With pre-season now completed after games against Manchester, Nottingham and Cardiff, the Steelers turn their attention to the Champions Hockey League
Games commence this coming Thursday in Switzerland against Fribourg and then, two days later in Sweden against Vaxjo
Captain Robert Dowd and Cole Shudra join the squad on Tuesday for the first time following their time with Great Britain at the Olympic pre-qualification event in Denmark.
Steelers will skate together for the first time as a full squad this Tuesday at the arena, the first time on Arena ice.
Game 1 at Home Vs Sparta Prague.
Steelers play their first home game at the arena on Friday 13th September against Sparta Prague, two days later on Sunday 15th September it will be the turn of Skelleftea AIK to visit the Utilita Arena.
Captain Robert Dowd said “All that hard work last season was for this, a chance to play against the very best and to test yourself and the group at the highest level
“The CHL is the pinnacle competition at club level, its been a long time since we were in it and we want to make a good showing over the next few weeks”
Huge Crowds Expected.
The Champions Hockey League expect the Steelers to lead the way in average attendances for this years competition and pre event ticket sales suggest they are right to do so with over 6,500 tickets already sold for the opening night against Sparta Prague.
“It would be nice to sell out that opening game” said owner Tony Smith “and we have just under two weeks to try and do just that
“We want to put a great show on for the CHL and our own fans” Smith continued “a full arena of Orange is what we all want to see, the players deserve that, the fans deserve that”
