It was new man Tommaso Traversa’s night tonight as the Steelers came out victors at the Skydome Arena against the Coventry Blaze with a convincing fives goals to one win.
It was down to Rok Stojanovic to back the Steelers to their win wollowing Brust’s suspension announced earlier in the day.
After a home win against the Blaze on Saturday night, the Steelers took their chance to rack up another 4 point weekend and following a loss by the Cardiff Devils at the hands of the Dundee Stars they extended their lead at the top of the table to six points.
Polak, Traversa (x2), Todd and Latal were the scorers for the Steelers with Ferrara picking up the sole Blaze goal.
After a closer first period in which the Steelers took a one goal advantage into the second, the Steelers never looked back adding a further two goals in the second and closing the game out with a single goal in the third period.
For his 3 point night (2+1), Traversa picked up the Steelers Man of the Match award.
The Steelers now head to Belfast for a double header weekend which will see the first placed Steelers take on the second placed Giants and will go a long way to shaping the league table for the Christmas period.
We are then back in home action on Wednesday 22nd December against the Glasgow Clan. See you there Sheffield!
