The Steelers have made a habit of taking games late and coming away with the point in the third period (and beyond) recently, but tonight was one ask too many as the men in Orange went down by three goals to two at the Dundee Ice Arena.
Fox had the same squad at his disposal as on the previous night when victory was secured for the 100th time in Elite League action against the Nottingham Panthers. Rok also kept his place in goal with Brust taking the back up role again tonight.
The game took a similar path across the first two periods as last night with both teams tied at 1-1 and 2-2 after the first and second period respectively, before the Dundee Stars scored the game winning goal in the third period at 51.43 by the impressive Combs as Dorowicz found Combs infront of the blue paint and he lifted the puck above Stojanovic.
The only real positive for the Steelers tonight came in the first period when Robert Dowd took one step closer to Jeff Legue’s scoring record as Todd circled the Stars net, found Schulze, who found Dowd in slot and he fired home high.
The other Steelers scorer on the night was Marco Vallerand as he continued to rack up the points. Another goal on the powerplay in his favourite spot and once again he made no mistake finding the top corner.
Bengtsson and Garrigan picked up the other Stars goals at 10.55 and 25.18 respectively.
The Steelers are still in a healthy position at the top of the table with games in hand on both of their closest rivals but will not want to drop any more points after tonight.
We are back in action on Wednesday night at the Utilita Sheffield Arena against the Glasgow Clan – See you there Sheffield.
