The Sheffield Steelers have this morning received the good news that both Brendan Connolly and Robert Dowd will be available for the start of the #2021EliteSeries.
The Greenville Swamp Rabbits confirmed yesterday that they had released Connolly allowing for him to return to Sheffield for the Elite Series and World Championships that follow.
Robert Dowd’s season in Italy ended last night when his side Eppan lost 7-2 to Varese in the first round of the play off’s.
Both players will be in Sheffield shortly ahead of the week long training camp that proceeds the Elite Series in Nottingham.
Head coach Aaron Fox said “It’s great to make things official with Conns returning for this Elite Series”.
“He was a big-time impact player for us last year and I expect he will be for this 5 weeks as well. I think he plays the game on the edge every night and is a guy that hates to lose. Conns brings that leadership and accountability to our room and I am looking forward to having him back”.
On Dowdy’s return Fox said “We were monitoring the scores coming from Italy last night and have mixed emotions. Of course, we wanted Dowdy to do well in that series but we are happy that he is on his way home shortly to join up with us”.
“We all know Dowdy’s strengths and what he means to this organisation. As always he will be a major cog in our wheel moving forward”
