Robert Dowd’s goal on Sunday night against the Dundee Stars was special in more ways than one.
Firstly it was an important moment in the Steelers 4-2 victory, a win that kept the club at the top of the EIHL.
Secondly, that goal, his 236th for the club, took his Steelers points tally to 473, 1 ahead of Ken Priestlay thus taking Dowd into 4th place in the all time Steelers scoring charts.

“I didn’t know I’d equalled Priestlay’s tally until Saturday morning,” said Dowdy after Sunday’s game with Dundee “It was nice to score the goal here at home in front of our fans, that was nice”
When asked about his most memorable goals Dowdy went on “I think the one in the play off’s against Nottingham, the one where we had come back from a big defeat the night before. That was special.
“Then again in my first year, the HT against the Panthers was great also. My Dad still has that puck framed in his office”
