Commercial Manager Mike O’Connor welcomed DRP to the Steelers saying, “It’s always nice to welcome new partners. DRP have national coverage and we will try and enhance their awareness in South Yorkshire.
“Rob, Perry and others from DRP have been regular visitors to the Arena for Steelers versus Blaze games over the past few seasons and it will be nice to welcome them as partners now.”
Rob Plaister, Managing Director of DRP said, “Personally I was ecstatic when I heard that Paul Thompson was returning home to the UK.
“It’s great news for Paul, his family and obviously for the Steelers but also for British Ice Hockey and Team GB.
“DRP Logistics take great pride in being the first to sponsor a coach in Sheffield and we wouldn’t have considered doing it for anyone else other than Paul.
“With our obvious existing connection to the Coventry Blaze, this sponsorship deal may come as a surprise to some but it felt right to be a small part of Thommo’s return to the Elite league and show support in his decision to sign for Sheffield and in our own way thank him again for the what he did for our club in Coventry.
“We of course already have a Sheffield connection with ex-Steeler Perry Doyle working for us so this sponsorship works on a number of levels, both personally and for us as a company. We wish Paul all the very best in his new role”.
