Dundee Stars 1-2 Steelers FINAL SCORE

Rok Stojanovic was the star of the show in Dundee as the Steelers battled their way to 2 points against the Stars on Sunday evening.

First period goals from Robert Dowd and Adrian Saxrud-Danielsen were enough to bring the points home and move the Steelers back to the top of the EIHL league.

First Period…

It was a battle of the bus legs in Dundee as both the Steelers and home side Stars had long journeys to Sunday’s game. Dundee had been shut out in Guildford the night before whilst the Steelers travelled from home after their 4-3 victory over Nottingham

Anthony DeLuca returned to the Steelers line up after serving his 2-game suspension. Rok Stojanovic started between the pipes for Aaron Fox’s side.

After an even first few minutes it was the Steelers who took control with Robert Dowd scoring with a snap shot from close range (assisted Ellerby and Latal)

A mix up in the Stars defence handed Adrian Saxrud Danielsen his forst goal of the season at 8.55 (Latal and Hodgman with assists)

The Rok did have several saves to make in the first period including two shorthanded chances for Dundee through Timi Lahtinen

Tanner Eberle went close on the power-play with Adam Morrison also making some excellent saves for the Stars.

Second Period …

The middle period saw a Dundee kick back with Rok called into action several times in the early minutes.

Steelers had more powerplay chances before the Steelers then took minors of their own through Armstrong and Connolly to give Dundee the momentum.

Rok again answered the bell making more big saves before Kankaanpera finnaly scored to give the Stars real hope in the final period.

Eberle broke away for the second time of the period in the final moments only to be hooked back by Kankaanpera to give the Steelers an early pp at the start of the 3rd.

Third Period …

The final period was end to end with Rok again making some crucial saves at important times.

Both sides kept their discipline in the final 20 minutes with no penalties called on either side.

Dundee pulled their goalie Morrison in the final 80 seconds but Rok and his team mates stood tall and it is the Steelers who come away with the 2 poimts.
