“Easy Decision to Return” says Ciampini

Daniel Ciampini says that returning to Sheffield was an “easy decision” once he had sat down with Aaron Fox to discuss the direction of the team

Steelers confirmed the return of Ciampini today, the 32 year old scored 65 points on 66 league, cup and play off games for the club last year.

“It was pretty easy when it happened” he said ” I returned from vacation after the season and met up with Aaron. I believe in him and the direction he is taking the team and I want to be a part of that

“I loved playing in Sheffield and know we came up short last year, I can’t imagine what it would be like to win for the incredible fans of the the club but that’s the plan”

Daniel has also been a sounding board for new players looking to join the club and is happy to help “I have a lot of contacts and have been around a while and sometimes its good for players to talk. I have a lot of contacts and have enjoyed trying to help attract players here, we’ve signed a couple of good ones that I’m excited about”

Head coach Aaron Fox said “I’m Really excited to get Champ back to build off last years season.

“We felt he was one of those important core pieces that was very important for us to get back. He ended up finishing the year with 65 points in 66 games, 24 of which were goals and was tied for team lead in regular season points.

“Champ also led the league in SH goals and was also our most complete two way forward last season.

“I like his defensive game, it is extremely high end for a guy who’s finished as his teams top scorer in 4 out of the 5 seasons he’s spent in Europe. He thinks the game extremely well and had stretches were he was dominant last season.

“I truly believe with him now having a year in the league under his belt and knowing what to expect he will build off those numbers next year.

“He’s also one of the most honest and professional players I have coached. He’s the Last guy off the ice in practice everyday and he truly cares and wants to better himself daily. He will be someone I can count on as one of those leaders in our room that we will need. I’m really happy we were able to get him back for another year”.
