Steelers spent Wednesday afternoon away from the rink at ‘TeamSport Go Karting’ as part of a team-building exercise.
Off-ice comradery is a key aspect of a happy dressing room and days like today are a welcome break from the game.
With the whole side in attendance, the guys were split into two qualifying groups to determine the two final lineups. Standout drivers Matt Climie, Evan McGrath, Robert Dowd, and Jonas Fredriksson all made the ‘fast’ group.
In typical style, Davey Phillips provided the most entertainment both and off the circuit, finishing his second race on the floor after being bumped over. His aggressive driving style saw him change cars midway through the race have damaged the Kart… whoops
The latest addition, Eric Neiley was in Sheffield to take part as well as Sutton Sting’s Jonas Fredriksson, who has trained with the side all year.
To capture the action up close, GoPro cameras were fitted to some drivers and a special video competition will be uploaded soon, documenting the day.
Winning the finale was Evan McGrath with the fastest lap time of 32:838 seconds. Impressive to say the least.
Second and third place was awarded to Jonas and Dowdy respectively, but all in all, everyone enjoyed themselves.
Steelers thank TeamSport for the great day and look forward to returning in the future.
