Game 2 of the #2021EliteSeries, the first of the event for both the Steelers and the Nottingham Panthers.
Face off was delayed after issues with the webcast streaming, this meant an 8pm Face Off.
John Muse started for the Steelers, his first appearance for his new club. Ben Bowns took the start for the Panthers.
After a scoreless first period the Steelers took control in the middle session.
Jonathan Phillips opened the scoring with a tip that was assisted by both new signing Kevin Schulze and Josh Waller.
Liam Kirk doubled the lead a minute later, his wrist shot from the left wing beat Ben Bowns in the Panthers net.
Steelers had injury issues with 5 minutes remaining in the period, goalie John Muse left the game with Ben Churchfield taking over between the pipes.
Kevin Domingue narrowed the deficit at 35.27 with his shot beating Churchfield glove side.
With less than 2 minutes remaining in the period the Panthers levelled, Austin Cangolosi the scorer.
The Panthers had the initiative going into the 3rd period but it was Liam Kirk who scored early when he beat Bowns for a second time at 41.02
Churchfield faced many shots in the final period and even made a huge save at 56.24 when saving a Christophe Boivin penalty shot.
