Fox Makes New Appointment to the Steelers Backroom

Head coach Aaron Fox has confirmed the appointment of Mike Mawer as the clubs new Head Strength and Conditioning coach, taking over the role of his brother Danny who left the club this summer to move to the German DEL in Berlin.

Mike will commence his work with the club this Saturday at the home game Vs. Nottingham Panthers.

“I’m very Happy we have been able to add Mike to our staff.

“It’s something we have discussed since Danny had taken the job in Berlin but he had some other commitments he needed to fulfil but is now very excited to know join us full time.

“I think it’s great for us to have him for the run in here and he is also committed for next years season as well so gives us that long term commitment to our group.

“It was important to have someone who understands the role and what’s expected, Danny was always gonna be a tough one to replace and think Mike can step in and do a comparable job. For me it’s also nice to have someone with that hockey background as well. Everyone I have spoken to about him as a player has said that he’s better in the locker room than he is on the ice. Which I think will be great to add that character to the room.

“Our two interns Elliot and Callum have done a good job in their roles and will stay on in a support role here and they are also looking forward to having a Lead And get more mentorship in the position”.
