It wouldn’t be the same without him – Welcome home Conns

Great news from the Sheffield Steelers as we confirm the return of Brendan Connolly for the 2022-23 EIHL season.

Connolly, who has played 91 games for The Steelers scoring 38 goals and 94 points, was injured part way through his second season with the club during last years Continental Cup in Denmark.

Head coach Aaron Fox has spent a lot of time this summer staying in touch with Connolly assessing his fitness ahead of the new season, he said “Conns a core guy who knows what we expect here and is great for our group. Most importantly He’s coming in for the right reasons and has some unfinished business.

“He has really put the work in this summer and is in great shape and should be ready by opening night.

“When healthy we know how effective he is and expect him to get into form right away. He’s a heart and soul player who plays on the edge which we lacked down the stretch last year. It’s Great to have him back and looking for him to be a leader”

“I wanted to continue playing and continue playing in Sheffield, somewhere I have really enjoyed. I’ve been working with Mike (Mawer) throughout the end of last season and this summer and I am ahead of where I need to be.

“I will come to Sheffield early, I think before the other guys so I am in the best shape possible for when camp begins. We have a big season ahead of us, one we can look forward to with confidence, I can’t wait too get on the ice and start”
