Steelers head coach Aaron Fox has today confirmed that James Bettauer will be leaving the club and heading back home to play in Germany.
Bettauer joined the Steelers on a 2-year contract ahead of the 2019-20 season, he was also studying at the University of Sheffield for his MBA.
In 27 games for the Steelers Bettauer scored 4 goals and 7 points whilst playing in a multitude of positions for the club.
Fox said “An agreement is in place for James to head back to play in Germany. The club is honouring the 2nd year of schooling at the University of Sheffield and he will finish his MBA course online. It was important we could arrange this and thank the University for their assistance.
“We are still hopeful to start here back again in January/February and there’s still an option to bring James back to Sheffield if that’s the case.
“I’m presently looking at options to help as many of our players as possible at this difficult time”.
