Sheffield Steelers have this morning confirmed they have signed Levi Nelson on a new two-year contract.
Playing his first year in Sheffield Nelson scored 24 goals and 55 points in just 61 games ending in helping secure the 2016 Elite League Championship.
Head coach & GM Paul Thompson said “I think Levi is in his prime. He is 28 years old and he had a fabulous season for us, he was our second top point scorer and he and Robert Dowd have great chemistry – there is something there we want to continue
“Levi is skilled, skates well and he comes to work every day. He is the first at the rink, two, sometimes three hours before practise. 3/4 hours before a game starts.
“He hits and he whacks and is a general pain to play against and that’s what we want. He makes and takes big hits, he gets rocked and comes straight back at you. He has a great a great skill level as well, he scores and he creates.
“We signed Dowdy on a multi year deal and have done the same with Levi, the chemistry is right between those two guys so why look elsewhere
“This is a strong core of players we are building here ahead of next season. We now just need to add the right components to ensure we are fighting for all of the trophies next season”
