What could have been for the Sheffield Steelers in Nottingham on Saturday.
Shyness in front of goal though once again was the Achilles heel after creating so many chances but taking just the one – Levi Nelson again scoring for the Steelers.
Sheffield had the power-play chances to take the points away from Lower Parliment Street but came away 0-6 on the one man advantage whilst Nottingham scored on one of their three opportunities.
Sheffield led 1-0 at the first period break, Levi Nelson coming out of the penalty box and picking up a loose puck, from close range he beat Panthers goalie Galbraith for a deserved advantage.
The Panthers were level by the 25th minute, Brett Perlini’s effort setting off the impressive sight of thousands of Teddy Bears been thrown onto the ice.
Thats how the score remained going into the third period, the scorer of the 2nd goal was always going to go on and win the game. Despite chances the Steelers couldn’t find a way. Davey Phillips mistimed pass found the stick of a Nottingham forward and moments later Raphael Bussieres had give the Panthers the 2-1 advantage.
Bussieres then made it 3-1 on the power-play in the 52nd minute and the game was all but over.
Levi Nelson had a chance to reduce the advantage when the Steelers were awarded a penalty shot but his effort was kicked away by Galbraith.
With Mustukovs pulled for the extra attacker the Panthers struck with a 4th goal at 58.23 to wrap up scoring.
Final Score: Nottingham Panthers 4-1 Steelers
