Behind every great sports team is an incredible support staff and the Steelers are lucky to have both the most loyal and best equipment manager in Andy Akers.

An ever present with the Steelers, a player in the clubs’ early days in the 1990’s, Akers took over the equipment managers role under coach of Alex Dampier, from then Andy has worked with all the clubs’ coaches.

Leading with his incredible work ethic Akers is a skilled tradesman as well as a hockey man who the club would be lost without.

If there is anyone in British hockey who should be in the NHL it is Andy.
