A hat trick from Josh Pitt and a brace from Evan McGrath secured both points for the Steelers on Sunday with a 5-2 victory over M.K. Lightning.
Former Steeler Eric Neiley was at it again early scoring a powerplay goal in the 9thminute to give the home side the lead.
Evan McGrath then equalised with a Steelers PP strike at 17.21 with Owens and Johnson assisting.
It was a scoreless middle period with both teams having opportunities but the Steelers slowly taking control and going close on many occasions.
Steelers broke the deadlock 1.42 into the final period when Pitt converted again on the PP
The lead was only short lived as Norris equalised 14 seconds later.
By this time though it was a more confident and fresher looking Steelers that were in full control.
Pitt grabbed his second of the night with a DPG at 44.09 before McGrath equalled Pitt’s tally minutes later for 4-2 and the security needed.
Still time for the Steelers to score a deserved 5thand it was Pitt’s hat trick goal at 56.51 with another PP strike.
Steelers return home on Wednesday evening for a home game against Fife Flyers at the Fly DSA (Sheffield) Arena (face off 7.30pm).
