The last face to be announced as joining the Sheffield Steelers roster in 24/25 is Daniel Leavens who joins from Thornhill, Ontario in Canada.

Weighing in at 203lbs and a height of 6 feet 2 inches, Leavens will add size and firepower to the Grand Slam Steelers forward lines.

Leavens is keen to add a professional championship to his resume that has eluded him to date during his already impressive career and joins the Steelers after spending last season playing for Fehervar AV19 out of Hungary in the ICEHL. There he put up 40 points including 13 goals and helped his team to the Quarter Finals of the playoffs. Before that, Daniel spent time in other European countries, plying his trade in Austria, Germany and Norway after leaving the North American ECHL where he regularly put up points including 56 regular season points in 42 games during a 22/23 campaign for HC Innsbruck.

Coach, Aaron Fox commented on his new power forward, “He will be another versatile player that can play multiple positions and also will play a heavy game if that’s what’s needed.  Daniel has been outstanding on the PP and definitely is a guy who is a top 6 player that I expect to run some good numbers.”

Leavens told of how he had been in contact with third-year Steeler Daniel Ciampini throughout the Summer after following his socials during the Grand Slam success, “we’ve played together and then I seemed to follow a year after him in Europe playing for the same team in both Norway and Austria. All last year I kept seeing his Instagram thinking that looks a great place to play. We spoke and he confirmed all that I had thought.”
