It was another huge night at the Fly DSA (Sheffield) Arena
In the end, the result didn’t go the way of the Steelers with our visitors, the Cardiff Devils taking both points in a 7-3 road win.
The night was sponsored by our good friends from Puckstop
What a night it was too for Travis Brammah who was celebrating his 9th birthday by being the Steelers mascot.
Travis skated with the Steelers throughout the warm-up and hooked up with Marco Vallerand for a special on-ice photo.
Time for the action to start but not until Puckstop had assisted with the ceremonial “Puck Drop”
Richard, Celine, Chloe and Caitlyn joined the two team captains to help get us underway.
It was to be a tough first period for the boys going down 3-0
Haddad scoring the first at 8.31
Sam Duggan grabbing the second at 16.05
Mathew Myers would score a third 46 seconds before the break for a 3-0 period.
Things didn’t improve in the middle period, despite all the hard work the would find themselves 6-1 down after the second break.
Cardiff scored a 4th just 62 seconds into the middle session (0-4) through Mike McNamee
Steelers were on the scoreboard at 28.44 when Marek Troncinsky netted (1-4)
Any hope that this would spark a revival was shattered four minutes later when Haddad scored his second of the night (1-5)
Josh Batch then scored a 6th for the Welsh club to give them a strong upper hand at the second break.
Duggan scored his second and the Devils 7th 6 minutes into the final period (1-7) before the Steelers hit back with the final two goals of the night.
Brendan Connolly on the power-play at 52.24 (2-7)
Tanner Eberle with the final goal of the night at 56.21
The final score was: Steelers 3-7 Cardiff Devils.
