Kevin Schulze will be back for his third spell with the Sheffield Steelers after signing a new one year contract extension with the club.

Schulze first played for the Steelers in the Elite Mini Series before returning last year for a full season of Elite League hockey.

Kevin led the scoring for a Steelers defenseman scoring 6 times and adding 29 assists for 35 points in league play.

Confirming his re-signing, head coach Aaron Fox said “I’m really happy we found a way to keep Kevin in Orange.

“He’s a smooth skating offensive defensemen who logged huge minutes for us and is another guy that plays with tons of pace.

“I think Kevin sees the ice extremely well, has a great stick defensively, and can close out extremely well.

“One of the reasons our PP finished 1st in the league was Kevin, he ran the top on our top unit.

“I would like to think that everyone at the club thinks that it is great to have him back with us for another year”.

Kevin admitted he did have interest from elsewhere, but decided his future was with the Steelers “I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time in Sheffield, the Elite series whetted my appetite and the full season didn’t disappoint either.

“I think we have a great club, super building, and training facilities and of course an incredible fan base. I have enjoyed working with Aaron and Carter so when all things were considered, returning here to a place I know and like was the right decision.

“On the ice, we now have to try and go one better, like all players, I want to win and hope that once again we will be competitive in all competitions”
