Steelers 3-2 Guildford Flames

Steelers moved back into the play off positions once again after a superb 3-2 home victory over Guildford Flames.

Jonas Westerling, Anthony DeLuca and Evan McGrath scored the import goals for the Steelers with Jackson Whistle once again in fine form stopping 28 of 30 shots.

Steelers ran into early penalty trouble with Johnson (27 seconds) Neiley (5.09) and Owens (6.13) all sent to the box.

The penalty kill was in fine form and by 8.13 we were back to full strength.

Steelers had their own power-play chances later in the period and Jonas Westerling scored the only goal of the period at 15.23 (O’Connor and Matheson)

The second period was end to end. First Anthony DeLuca scored 2.35 minutes in to double the Steelers advantage.

Calle Ackered hammered a powerplay goal at 30.40 to narrow the advantage with DeLuca sat in the box for tripping.

Steelers hit right back to reclaim the two-goal lead when DeLuca made an inch-perfect pass to Evan McGrath who showed great composure to fire home (3-1)

It was Ackered again who scored the Flames 2nd with just 2.14 remaining in the period, the teams going into the break with the Steelers leading 3-2.

It was a scoreless final period with end to end action with both goalies closing the door.

Power-play chances came and went for both sides, the Flames pulled goalie Carrozzi in the final minute but the Steelers dug deep and claimed both points.

Final score: Steelers 3-2 Guildford Flames.

Steelers man of the match was goalie Jackson Whistle.
