Eric Neiley and Robert Dowd both scored twice as the Steelers dominated the Fife Flyers at the Arena on Saturday night.
Steelers outshot their opponents 47-20 as Sheffield rolled four lines against the Flyers in one of the best performances of the season. The two teams go head to head tomorrow in Fife.
Robert Dowd scored the only goal of the first period as he deflected Ben O’Connor’s shot at 10.26.
Against the run of play, the Flyers equalised with the only goal of the middle session, Finucci on the PP at 36.39
Steelers controlled the final period scoring 3 without reply.
Eric Neiley scored the game-winner at 44.16, assisted O’Connor and Johnson.
Robert Dowd scored his 2nd at 46.18, assisted Armstrong and McFadden.
Neiley grabbed his brace at 56.35 on the power-play (McGrath and Johnson) to send the 8,600 crowd home happy.
Eric Neiley was the Steelers man of the match.
Steelers travel to Fife on Sunday for game 2 of the weekend.
