Steelers 4-1 Manchester Storm.

Matt Climie backstopped the Steelers to victory on Sunday afternoon playing his first game at the Fly DSA (Sheffield) Arena.

Climie faced 26 shots whilst at the other end Steelers had goals from Josh Pitt, Jonas Westerling, Stefan Della Rovere and Mark Matheson.

The game had a bit of everything, goals, hits and with Manchester in town there was of course a bit of the rough stuff with both Dane Byers and Linden Springer being ejected from the game after a third period incident.

Steelers were off to the perfect start – with Dane Byers sat in the penalty box Josh Pitt redirected a Ben O’Connor shot past Matt Ginn for a 1-0 score line.

Jonas Westerling doubled the Steelers advantage mid way through the second period, another powerplay strike (Pitt and O’Connor)

Evan Richardson halved the advantage with 11 minutes remaining before the Steelers hit back when Evan McGrath made a great play to Della Rovere to convert (3-1)

In the 55th minute Jonas Westerling received a high stick from Dane Byers, his penalty caused tempers to flare with both he and Linden Springer ejected from the game.

In the resulting powerplay the Steelers struck again with Mark Matheson shooting through traffic to complete the scoring.

Both goalies claimed the man of the match awards, Matt Ginn for the Storm and Matt Climie for the Steelers.

Final score: Steelers 4-1 Manchester Storm.
