Anthony DeLuca scored 4 goals and had an assist as the Steelers put in their performance of the season beating Cardiff 5-4.
It was the game of the season as both sides went toe to toe in front of over 7,000 fans. Jackson Whistle faced 50 shots, 23 in the final period.
DeLuca scored the all important first goal of the night with just a second remaining in the first period. Devils coach Andrew Lord was furious but the referee’s, Messrs Smith and Perring ruled that the goal stood. Our photo shows they were correct with their decision.
It took the Steelers just 5 minutes of the middle session to double their lead, DeLuca again the scorer, assisted McGrath.

Steelers hit right back with DeLuca scoring his hat trick goal 36 seconds later (McGrath and Davey Phillips)
Joey Martin came right back at the Steelers scoring a 2nd goal for the Devils at 31.36 – the teams went into the break with the Steelers 4-2 ahead.
Devils struck first in the final period, Mike Hedden scoring past Whistle at 47.25 – we were all in for the ride to see this one over the line.
It had to be DeLuca to give the Steelers some breathing room as he scored his 4th (McFadden and Phillips) with 12 minutes remaining.
On the power-play and with the goalie pulled the Devils struck with Hedden scoring again to bring the game to 5-4
Devils pulled Bowns once again in the final minute but this time the Steelers stood tall and saw the game out.
