Steelers bounced back from a run of defeats with a strong performance in Milton Keynes and a 4-1 victory.
The Golden Child, Robert Dowd led the way with a 3rd-period brace with other goals coming from Tom Zanoski, on his debut and an empty netter from Jordan Owens.
Jackson Whistle put in a strong display turning away 24 or 25 shots.
Ryan Martinelli was the Steelers man of the match.
After a scoreless first period, it was Steelers new signing Tom Zanoski that opened the scoring with a superb finish from the right wing that gave Patrick Killeen no chance at 30.23.
Steelers had the opportunity to extend their lead when the Lightning took a penalty, Tim Wallace for slashing.
It was, however, the Lightning that were to score, Robbie Baillargeon, beating Jackson Whistle shorthanded.
With both teams only icing four D men fatigue was to be an issue, the Steelers looked the fitter and stronger in the final session and Robert Dowd took full advantage.
He scored the eventual game-winner at 53.58 (Armstrong and O’Connor) and then netted a powerplay strike at 57.41 (Matheson and Armstrong)
Jordan Owens would score a 4th, an empty net strike in the final moments of the game to secure both points for the Steelers.
