Steelers Come From Behind to Beat the Blaze 6-4

Steelers made it 5 wins out of 6 in the 2021 Elite Series and moved 4 points clear of Manchester Storm in the standings after a come from behind 6-4 victory over the Coventry Blaze.

Aaron Fox’s side had six different scores with Tanner Eberle, Jonathan Phillips, Sam Jones, Sondre Olden, Jason Hewitt and Brendan Connolly all finding the back of the net.

Steelers have started most games in this series quickly but it was the Blaze who were off to a quick start with Sheffield slightly sluggish in the first period.

Hammond set up Tristan Keck inside 5 minutes for the opening Blaze goal.


8 Minutes later it was former Steeler Luke Ferrara who doubled the Blaze advantage.

Steelers started the middle period on the power-play and just 65 seconds in Tanner Eberle had halved the Blaze advantage (Liam Kirk and Jeremy Beaudry)

Steelers then hit the Blaze with two quick goals at 36.08 and 36.43

First Jonathan Phillips tipped home a Davey Phillips shot with Josh Waller also assisting (2-2)

35 Seconds later and the Steelers were ahead (2-3) with Sam Jones scoring his first goal in Orange assisted Olden and D Phillips

Mike Hammond turned scorer to level the game at 3-3 early in the final period but the Steelers struck back quickly with Sondre Olden scoring once again (Phillips and Connolly) at 46.04

Jason Hewitt doubled the Steelers advantage (3-5) at 52.49 (Waller and Phillips) before the Blaze hit back once again.

Keck scored his second of the night with Hammond assisting with just 3.28 remaining in the period and the game (4-5)

With just 1 second on the clock Brendan Connolly found the empty net (Sondre Olden) to round off the scoring

Final score: Coventry Blaze 4-6 Sheffield Steelers.
