After leading through Kevin Tansey, the Manchester Storm hit four without reply to beat the Steelers 4-1 in the clubs opening exhibition game at the Storm Shelter on Saturday night

Period scores of 1-1 / 1-0 and 2-0 secured the victory for the home side.

Marco De-Filippo started his first game as a Steelers

Patrick Watling and Colton Saucerman both miss the game with several Steeldogs joining the lineup for the first time.

First Period:

Chance number one fell for Marco Vallerand but his backhand shot was just wide.

Weninger in the Storms goal was certainly the busier of the two net minders in the early stages, Diffleys shot was tipped by Vallerand with Weninger again called into action.

Vallerand was getting the early chances, next up was a nice play from Mitchel Balmas, his pass deflected just wide by the Steelers #88

08.08 and the Steelers took a deserved lead, Blamas with the assist and Kevin Tansey with the goal for the 1-0 advantage.

11.17 and Joona Huttla took the Steelers first penalty of the new year for elbows.

Steelers almost converted short handed when Mikko Juusola broke and fed Dominic Cormier, his shot going just wide.

Moments later the Storm tied the game on the power-play when Tyler Hinam scored from close range (1-1)

Garcia tried to jam one home moments later by De-Filippo made the big save

Second Period

Early power-play for the Storm with Sasha Guimond taking 2 for delay of the game

Steelers killed the Storm advantage but Manchester continued to push forward looking for a go ahead goal.

Sam Tremblay thought he had scored against his former side having the puck cleared off the line

29.03 and the Storm score the only goal of the middle session

What a play from Owen Griffiths with a great assist with Alex Robert tapping home (2-1)

It was all Storm at this time with Marco De-Filippo making a string of big saves

What looked like a clean hit by Kevin Tansey at 32.13 was called roughing with the Storm having more power-play time

Steelers again killed off the Manchester power-play and the period ended

Third Period

5 Minutes into the final period and the Storm doubled their advantage when Dallas Ehrhardt beat De-Filippo

Steelers went pressing with Weninger in the Storm goal making several outstanding saves

It did leave the Steelers a little open at the back and Manchester broke on a couple of occasions with De-Filippo making some big stops of his own.

Brandon Whistle went close after a nice passing move but again Weninger made the save

Kevin Tansey went end to end but his shot was saved

with just 82 second on the clock the Storm secured the victory when Gianluca Esteves beat De-Filippo to secure the 4-1 victory

Steelers return home to take on Nottingham Panthers on Bank Holiday Monday at ICE Sheffield
