The two clubs are forging a link for fanbases to enjoy both sports to the maximum extent and keep pulses racing through the summer.
Steelers Commercial Manager Mike O’Connor said:
“I hope Steelers fans will take up the offer, which includes a cut-price admission deal when the high-speed action gets underway at Owlerton later this month on the Tigers’ new Sunday race-day.
“For instance, Steelers season ticket holders will be admitted to all domestic fixtures for just £10 – instead of the usual £16 – and as an added bonus all under-16s go free. Fans just have to show their season ticket at the Owlerton turnstiles.”
The link-up follows the sponsorship of both clubs by Sheffield Window Centre boss, Ian Hunter, who is an avid fan of both the ice and two-wheel action.
“I started to go to the speedway a few summers ago with Ian and loved it! It’s a great family sport for the summer and the races are run one after another. It’s great value for money, especially with the deal for our season ticket holders.
“Instead of a Zamboni there is a tractor that rakes and redresses the track every so often and every kid at the track wants to be that driver! Owlerton has some great corporate facilities and the food and beverages are reasonably priced – I’m confident I will see many of our fans there.”
For fans who want to know more about speedway, the Tigers will be at the FlyDSA Arena for the clash with Cardiff Devils on March 16 when Mike and Steelers owner Tony Smith, will hand over the official 2019 race jackets to riders on the ice ahead of face-off.
The Tigers will also be in the Glass Bowl, where you can get a first-hand look at one of the 500cc racing bikes and meet not only this year’s team but also some speedway legends of the past.
Flyers will be available offering discounted £10 tickets for the Steel City Championship opener on March 24 (4 pm) and also the derby clash against Scunthorpe Scorpions on March 31 (6 pm).
