Games in the EIHL don’t get any easier and this weekend the Steelers face two tough away fixtures in Nottingham and Coventry.
It is almost an exact repeat of last weekend’s fixtures, that saw Tom Barrasso’s men take all four points from the two games. However, this time round Steelers take on Nottingham IN Nottingham on Saturday night before heading back to the Skydome on Sunday.
Live on Youtube, it’s a 7 pm face-off at the Motorpoint Arena on Saturday with the hosts looking to bounce back after being dumped out of the Challenge Cup by Guildford in the week.
Sheffield has enjoyed good success over the Panthers this year and last time out in Nottingham, it was THAT DeLuca penalty shot that secured all the points on Boxing Day.
A win at the FlyDSA arena on Saturday, in front of a bumper 8,000+ crowd, made it 4 wins out of 5 in the EIHL against Nottingham.
With the absence of Mark Matheson (lower body) for the foreseeable future, Steelers will be without another d-man in a season that has been riddled with injuries. Robert Dowd is close to returning to the lineup and maybe in contention for Saturday’s game.
Steelers return to the Skydome on Sunday following the 4-2 win over Coventry a week ago, looking to replicate both the performance and result.
Another solid game from Jackson Whistle helped backstop the boys to a huge win, considering the games in hand Coventry have. This ‘mini’ series vs the Blaze may prove to be crucial come the final games of the season when positions are decided.
Tanner Eberle and a brace from Eric Neiley helped the Steelers gain a 3-0 advantage and despite a great deal of ‘squeaky bum time’ they got the job done.
If you aren’t making the trip to Coventry, you can follow along at home via the Coventry stream. Face-off is 5:15 pm
