The Steelers are delighted to welcome back Brendan Connolly for the 2021-22 Elite League Season.
Connolly made a huge impact on the club, his team mates and the fans in his first season as a Steeler in 2019-20, helping us win the Challenge Cup (48 games 26+29=55)
Brendan was due to return in the Elite season that never was and after the cancellation of the domestic year returned to the States to play for Greenville Swamp Rabbits (18 games 4+5=9)
We all saw Connolly return for the five week Elite Series and during his time back in Sheffield a deal was struck between him and head coach Aaron Fox for his full time return.
Prior to joining the Steelers Connolly made his first impact in the EIHL with the Belfast Giants (2017) before joining the Glasgow Clan the following season.
“Bringing Conns back was an absolute no brainer for me” said Fox “He’s definitely a core piece for us who plays the game on the edge every night and absolutely hates to lose.
“Conns brings leadership and accountability to our room and is someone I will rely on heavily to play in all situations.
“It’s great to have another piece from our Challenge Cup winning team back and we already know with him and Valley there is built in chemistry already there”.
Speaking from his home in Canada Connolly said “I’ve enjoyed my time in Sheffield immensely and obviously I believe Sheffield gives me the best chance to compete for trophies.
“I’m really excited to get back to Sheffield and play in front of our amazing fans”.
Steelers atart their 2021-22 season with a home exhibition game against the Nottingham Panthers on Sunday 19th September at the Arena.
