Steelers head coach Paul Thompson has confirmed the signing of 33 year old right winger Jesse Schultz from German side SC Riessersee.
Schultz boasts 375 American League games including three 20 plus and a 30 plus goal season.
“His stats say it all” said Thompson “he has put up outstanding numbers wherever he has played, in whichever league he has played in
“Just two seasons ago he was the third highest scorer in the East Coast league. His experience is vast both in North America and Europe. He is a perfect fit for us and a great addition to the team that we take into the Champions League in August”
Schultz has scored 83 times in the last three seasons in three different leagues (CHL, ECHL and DEL2)
“He is obviously an offensive talent, an offensive player” continued Thompson “I think we have a highly skilled winger who will add a further offensive punch to the line up. He is a puck possession player who comes with a great shot. I like the way he fits into the line up along side the variety of talent we have already amassed”
Schultz joins forwards Mathieu Roy, Colton Fretter, Robert Dowd, Levi Nelson, Tyler Mosienko, Guillaume Desbiens, Jonathan Phillips, Luke Ferrara, Liam Kirk and Cole Shudra with Thompson still looking for a further two import forwards. “We are happy where we are right now and just have the five places (2 forwards and 3 defensemen) remaining” said Thompson “we are looking for specific pegs for those specific roles and are painstakingly trying to find the right players”
