Steelers Statement on SSSC Away Travel – “Book Your Seats”

The Sheffield Steelers wish to advise their fanbase that they are taking on board much of the constructive correspondence that they have received regrading their statement earlier in the week on the issues of webcasting and away travel via the SSSC.

Firstly on the issues of webcasting. We have held several meetings with our solicitors, Messrs: ShakespeareMartineau on the copyright issues to commercial outlets that have prevented us from broadcasting games recently. We believe we are very close to implementing a solution to the issues we have and will advise fans further on this matter early next week.

We have certainly heard the sensible arguments made by many Steelers fans regarding away travel, especially many disabled supporters who obtain their tickets for away fixtures through the SSSC.

After much consideration and dialogue with the clubs ownership, management, supporters club and travel partners we confirm that we will be advising the SSSC to immediately commence their away travel organisation once again.

We note that our earlier position did cause concern to many supporters whose opinions we value strongly. MD Tony Smith said “I got it wrong and apologise to our fan base for the upset I have caused. We will continue to work hard and hope to have more positive news on the webcasting very soon.

We trust that this statement is met with supporters approval and that we can now concentrate on moving forward both on and off the ice this weekend.
