Steelers vs. Belfast Giants at 4pm
Steelers open their league campaign this Sunday at the Utilita Arena against one their biggest rival in the race for the 2025 championship, the Belfast Giants.
The two most successful in the Elite league era go head to head at 4.00pm on Sunday with tickets available “HERE”
The Belfast Giants, the Grand Slam Champions of 2023.
Yet in 2024 it was the turn of the Steelers to reverse the Giants success of the year before, now for the 2025 Elite League season the big question is who will come out on top …
These two clubs hold all the big records in the history of the Elite League, Steelers have played 1061 games ahead of this weekend, one more than the Giants, though Belfast have more overall wins, 706 to 684
Both clubs have played in all 20 seasons of the Elite league with both sides winning 6 league titles, 2 ahead of Coventry with 4, Cardiff with 2 and a little known village side just south of here with 1 (there first since 1956).
The two teams have met 184 times, 90 in Sheffield and 94 in Belfast, Steelers winning 80 and the Giants 93. The Belfast Giants are the only side to have a winning record over the Steelers.
Belfast have also outscored the Steelers 542 – 529, so here is hoping that deficit can be reduced a little tonight as we start our league title defence.
