Steelers 2024-25 Team Shaping Us Nicely.
After the Grand Slam success of 2024, head coach Aaron Fox has slowly been putting together his side to defend all three trophies as well as taking on the best teams in Europe in the CHL.
Let’s take a look at where the 2024/25 Steelers side is as we head towards the end of July.
Goalies…
Perhaps the most important position of them all which means that the summer news that Matt Greenfield was returning was perhaps met with the most excitement.
Greenfield returns to the Steelers for a 3rd season after being named as an EIHL all-star last year for his incredible work in helping the club secure a Grand-Slam.
Steelers are still confirm their second import goalie, but they have announced Curtis Warburton and Ben Norton have signed two-way agreements with the Steelers and Sheffield Steeldogs.
Defence…
Aaron Fox has had to plan for the new season knowing both Sam Jones and Niklas Nevalainen wouldn’t be returning.
To date, the Steelers have confirmed the re-signing of four of their Grand Slam D core.
Kevin Tansey, Colton Saucerman, Brien Diffley and Dominic Cormier will once again patrol the Steelers blue line next season.
As we head towards the end of July, Aaron Fox still has two import D men to announce.
Forwards…
Steelers enjoyed amazing firepower last season in winning all three trophies on offer.
Aaron Fox, to date has confirmed many returnees but also the departure of a fan favourite.
Brett Neumann announced shortly after the season had ended that he would be moving on to a team in Switzerland. Neumann had enjoyed two seasons with the club and had been a major part of our recent success.
The forwards Aaron Fox has confirmed to date are …
Captain Robert Dowd, Patrick Watling, Marco Vallerand, Daniel Ciampini, Mitchell Balmas, Mark Simpson, Mikko Juusola, Cole Shudra and Brandon Whistle.
