The Story of Saturday Night……

The Story of Saturday Night……

A great night on the ice and in the stands as the Steelers remained top of the EIHL with a 5-3 victory against Guildford Flames at the Arena on Saturday night.

The game was sponsored by Triple P’s and before the game they visited the Steelers dressing room for a photo.

Mark, Amy and Dawn then played their part in the pre-game puck drop as they were joined by the two team captains.

Tomas Duba had to be in fine form as the forst period started with the visitors on top.

It wasn’t long though before the Steelers were right on track scoring 4 goals without reply.

Back from injury, Marco Vallerand opened the scoring at 11.47 (1-0) – Captain Jonathan Phillips then doubled the advantage at 12.42

The goals just kept on coming with Brendon Connolly at 18.34 (3-0) and then James Bettauer at 19.09 (4-0)

Bettauer would score his second goal 12 minutes into the third period for a 5-0 advantage.

Guildford then staged a mini-comeback with Gord Baldwins brother Corbin scoring the first at 32.38. TJ Foster narrowed the gap to 5-2 (see photo below) at 39.00. Ian Watters then had Steelers fans a little worried at 45.47 when he fired past Duba for 5-3

The Bradfield Brewery Man of the Match Awards were presented by Mark, Dawn and Amy from Tripple P’s

The Guildford Flames winner was forward Brett Furguson

The winner of the SIV Live sponsored 50-50 draw were Mandy Eaton and Eva Olczak.

They asked for Tomas Duba to present their huge cash prize.

Robert Dowd presented his game-worn shirt to Noah Ashwood, the winner of the Sheffield Window Centre “Shirt Off Your Back Raffle”

Triple P’s were back on the ice for the Steelers man of the match award.

Mark, Dawn and Amy presented the award to the two-goal hero, James Bettauer.

There were still awards and photo’s after the game for some of the guys.

Firstly Davey Phillips hooked up with the lucky programme winners, Josh Beaver, Amy Graham and Cameron Lowe.

The SSSC then presented the October player of the month Tanner Eberle with his award

Paula Kershaw and Helen Coe were selected by the SSSC to make the presentation on the Steelers home bench.
