Fan favourite Tyler Mosienko has extended his contract with the Steelers by signing a new one year deal with the club.
Mosienko joined the Steelers for the start of the 2014-15 season from Danish side Esbjerg Energy scoring 26 goals in his first year.
Head coach Paul Thompson made Mosienko one of his first re-signings last summer and the 31 year old has repaid his coach with 25 goals and 60 points in just 53 games to-date this season
“He is our heart beat” said Thompson on confirming the re-signing “he comes to work every day determined to be the hardest working player we have. He scores goals, creates plays, kills penalties. His work ethic is incredible and he drives us all on.
“Tyler is simply a very good hockey player who we are delighted to add to the core of players returning next season. I’m sure the fans will be delighted with the news as we are”
Mosienko had an incredible weekend against the Cardiff Devils last week scoring 5 goals and taking him to 25 for the season – second in the clubs scoring charts behind Mathieu Roy (26)
“I’m thankful to Tony Smith and Paul Thompson for inviting me back here. Myself and my family love it here in Sheffield. We are settled, we are Steelers. The fans have been great to us since we arrived
“As a club we have moved forward, the way the club is progressing on and off the ice excites me. We are making big steps forward here from the way things were last year to this. Having Thommo (Paul Thompson) back for another year is just going to keep building us in the right direction. I love the way things are going. The staff here give me everything as a player I need to do my job and keep getting better”
Mosienko joins Zack Fitzgerald who re-signed with the Steelers a month ago for the next two years.
