Saturday night was a very special occasion for young Elouise Burrows when she visited the FlyDSA Arena.
It has been a painful time for the brave girl who suffered from a severe flat foot and had to undergo corrective surgery to combat the issue. The procedure included breaking bones and several bone grafts to sort the problem and it led to a 4-night stay in the Hospital.
Having her leg in a cast and being provided with crutches should enable a much smoother recovery period but one that will be tricky.
The amazing staff who we are very proud to call our friends have done a terrific job of getting Elouise to a point where there should no longer be any issues.
Elouise, who is a patient at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital, was invited to a game when the Steelers visited the hospital back in December.
Upon accepting the invite that Anthony DeLuca gave, Elouise was given the full V.I.P treatment from Commercial Manager, Mike O’Connor as he introduced Miss Burrows to the Steelers players.
Not only were players posing for pictures, but they also signed the cast that Elouise will wear through her rehabilitation period.
On the night, Vicky (Elouise’s Mum) invited her friend and her son (Ethan) to experience their first Steelers game and they couldn’t have been more impressed.
Sophie Coburn, who works as the Corporate Fundraiser for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, was on hand to help show the family around.
Following the visit, Sophie had nothing but good things to report back to Steelers HQ.
When I spoke to Vicky today she said they are all still buzzing from Saturday night. They are booking tickets for the game coming up on Wednesday 20th & they think they will become regulars! Perhaps a season ticket holder one day.
