The Sheffield Steelers are delighted to confirm the return of import forward Eric Neiley from the MK Lightning.
Eric enjoyed a successful spell with the club last year and was invited back in the summer. Eric then took the decision to retire from the sport and took up a job outside the game.
Once the season started Eric reversed his decision and returned to the sport joining the MK Lightning where he has scored 9 goals and 17 points to date this year.
Eric is presently in Sheffield and will skate with his new team mates this morning, he will also be in the line up for Sunday’s home game against Manchester Storm at the Fly DSA Arena (face off 4pm).
As Reported by the MK Lightning:
The Smith Recycling Milton Keynes Lightning announce today that US-born forward Eric Neiley is to leave the club. Eric, sponsored by Craft & Cleaver, will be returning to the Sheffield Steelers where he played 34 fixtures last season.
The Steelers approached Lightning two weeks ago about the possibility of re-signing the player Club owner Graham Moody commented, “We want to assure our supporters that we did everything we could to try and persuade Eric to stay – but once a player has made up their minds, usually it’s very difficult to change that.
“Right through this period of discussions, Eric has been the consummate professional and given nothing less than 100 per cent for Lightning. On behalf of everyone here, on and off the ice, we want to thank him for everything he has done whilst wearing our colours.
“We know this news will be disappointing for fans but Ryan (Lannon) and Tim (Wallace) are working flat out on a replacement, and we hope to have some positive news in the near future.”
