What a Great Night We Had on Wednesday

What a Great Night We Had on Wednesday night at the Fly DSA Arena,

The Steelers winning run continued with a 4-1 victory over the Fife Flyers, but there was so much more than that.

First we thank our sponsors on Wednesday, Rotheram Adoption, we out in force both on the ice with the presentations and up on Concourse Level where many fans learn’t a lot more about all of the good work they do.

Adoption Team Manager Sue Bennett helped drop the match puck with Grandson Logan.

The Steelers took advantage early on scoring the only goal of the first period.

Michael Davies the scorer – we lead 1-0

Robert Dowd doubled the advantage in the 24th minute for 2-0

The goal of the night came a little later from Tanner Eberle. With the Steelers shorthanded following a James Bettauer penalty for tripping the Flyers were looking to cut the deficit.

Eberle had other intentions scoring a fantastic individual goal at 28.53 (assist to Ben O’Connor)

With Dowd (hooking) and Shudra (slashing) sat in the penalty box the Flyers pulled a goal back on the 5/3 power-play – Sam Jones firing past Tomas Duba in the Steelers net.

The only goal of the third period would come late on. With Fife pushing they pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. Big John Armstrong won the face-off and Ben O’Connor fired the puck down the length of the ice for the empty-net goal.

Final score: Steelers 4-1 Fife Flyers.

Rotherham Adoption were back out on the ice to present the two-man of the match awards. First up was the Flyers.

Helen Magham  and her son George presented the award to Fife goalie Adam Morrison.

With no 50-50 winner present on the night, the next award was the Sheffield Windo Centre “Shirt Off Your Back Raffle”

The winner was Abbi Gore who chose the shirt of Anthony DeLuca

Rotherham Adoption were back out then to present Nikolai Lemtyugov with his man of the match award off Helen and George

Nikolai then skated around the Arena carrying out his first Eddy of the year.

One lucky fan taking home his game worn shirt.

Everyone left the Arena happy, the 2 points took the Steelers to joint top of the league with the Glasgow Clan.

Next home game is this Sunday against the Dundee Stars
